Based out of California, Jaylen Barron is one of the stars of the Starz series, “Blindspotting,” which is based on the 2018 film of the same name. The actress said she had a fairly chill attitude about what she could and couldn’t do during this pandemic. “I really feel like the pandemic gave me a chance to grow and get to know myself more,” said Barron. “I’ve discovered things about myself that a year and a half ago I wouldn’t even think I would like or dislike. Spending time outside, whether taking walks or eating, has become a continuous routine. I’ve also started listening to different meditation music.” Fans may stay in touch Barron — who also starred in the Netflix series “Free Rein” — on Twitter and Instagram.

Q: How have you dealt with all the travel restrictions, especially last year?

A: I have come to accept the times we are in. I don’t like to force anything, especially if it has to do with flying, so if it isn’t my time to travel and go to different places in this moment in my life, I am content with that. I love traveling, but timing is everything. So, when it’s time to start going places again, I’ll be ready.

Q: If you had travel plans and had to cancel, where were they to?

A: I was planning a trip to London to visit my “Free Rein” castmates. I was looking forward to enjoying the city again. Hopefully, I can make it happen soon.

Q: What is your favorite vacation destination?

A: So far, Hawaii! I recommend going to a restaurant in Waikiki called Sam’s Kitchen. It’s small and well put together right by the water. The food is delicious and the people who work there are so friendly. I can’t wait to go back on my next visit.

Q: What was the first trip you took as a child?

A: I visited my family in Jalisco, Mexico, and I loved it. I was surrounded by caring family members, food and parties. What more could a girl want?

Q: What’s the most important thing you’ve learned from your travels?

A: Always bring a travel laundry bag and a mobile charger. You never know when they might come in handy!

Q: If you could only pick one place to eat, would you choose a casual meal or fine dining?

A: That’s a tough one. I really prefer home-cooked meals at my grandma’s house because possibilities are really endless there.

Q: Where are your favorite weekend getaways?

A: I love Palm Springs or staying at the Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica. It is such a nice hotel. Spending time there always helps me recharge.

Q: Where is the most romantic destination?

A: Paris! The city has such a magical feel to it. Just seeing the Eiffel Tower makes me think of romance. I can’t wait to go back someday.

Q: Do you speak any foreign languages?

A: Spanglish is the only thing I can get down with, and even then it’s iffy. I do not pick up languages easily. I wish I did.

Q: When you go away, what are some of your must-have items?

A: Makeup remover wipes, hand lotion, lip balm, La Mer eye cream, travel shampoo and conditioner, my journal, crystals and a scrunchie.

Q: What would be your dream trip?

A: Going to a warm island with a beach cabana over the water – breakfast, lunch and dinner provided for me – and endless beach days. I’d also love to go snorkeling and have animals nearby to watch.

Q: What is your guilty pleasure when you’re on the road?

A: Little Debbie Fudge Brownies. They’re a classic snack. Also, I like to have a paper map to outline my route and to doodle on.

Q: What is your best and/or worst vacation memory?

A: My best vacation memory would be waking up in front of the beach at 7 a.m., hopping on a moped and riding around. My worst memory would definitely be falling off that same moped into some bushes and then falling off more times while parked. We were doing way too much!
