North Face: These boots were made for walking

I love boots. Besides providing warmth and traction, they also cover up a multitude of sins, such as cankles, unflattering pants and general slovenliness. And not that I’m into cosplay — because I’m not (not that there’s anything wrong with it) — but when I wear boots, I feel spritely. Like an elf. Not the Will Ferrell kind of elf, but the Legolas/Galadriel kind. Anyone else? No? Just me? Alrighty then… Moving on.

SnackFever

I’m not gonna lie. When I watch TV, I like to snack. Back in the day when “Golden Girls” was on, whenever the Girls sat around the kitchen table eating cheesecake, I got a craving for it, too. When Angela ate spaghetti that her father lovingly reheated for her on “My So-Called Life,” I wanted to run to the kitchen and whip up some pasta. Thanks to SnackFever, it makes it a cinch to have Korean snacks on hand for binge-watching your favorite K-Dramas!

We all scream for ice cream

My theory about ice cream (and most desserts) is that if I’m going to consume all those empty calories, I want it to be reallllllllly good and worthwhile. I’m really lucky, because one of our friends works for Häagen-Dazs and is very generous sharing ice cream with his friends. But my family really enjoys making our own.

Food tents

To be honest, I didn’t know food tents like this even existed. The first time I saw anything like this was on “Oh My Venus.” One of the characters makes food for her boyfriend and leaves it under a small food tent for him. I thought, “What a great idea!” And then I forgot about it. I’m not sure how durable these things are yet. But, if and when it breaks, I will come back and report what made it snap.

Pics ‘n’ Props

If there are some of you who have yet to order your cards, I would like to share this tip. Order more than you need. Not only will they come in handy when you rush to mail out last-minute cards to people you’ve forgotten about (oops!), but they’ll be really fun to send out in the upcoming years. One day, when our children are no longer small and adorable, they may not want to pose for cute holiday card photos. In fact, they may look downright surly. And let’s face it — when kids are surly at 3, 4 or 5 — they’re still pretty darned sweet looking. At 16 or 17, not so much.
