“[‘A Taste of Love’] was mostly filmed in the charming beach town of Dunedin, Florida, which is near Tampa,” said Susan Gallagher. “It is the perfect backdrop for a Hallmark movie and the audiences are going to love the beautiful cinematography and Florida beaches.”
Alicia Hannah-Kim makes her “Cobra Kai” debut as a powerful sensei in the popular Netflix series. “My character felt like a step in a new direction – not only for representing women, but Asian women,” said Hannah-Kim, who hails from Sydney, Australia.
“When I shot ‘The Last Son’ in Montana, I actually chose to drive there all the way from Nashville instead of flying in for filming,” said Emily Marie Palmer. “I’ll take any excuse to get out on the open road!”
Joe Seo said one of the reasons he loves his role playing a bully on “Cobra Kai” is because “it goes against the grain of the way Asians are portrayed. I jumped at this opportunity and thank the producers for trying to push the envelope.”
“It was very painful sometimes getting to see everyone else do badass karate moves, while I duck and cover,” said Gianni Decenzo, one of the few actors on “Cobra Kai” who had combat training experience. The 19-year-old actor is pleased that his character gets to show off some martial arts skills on this third season.
“After the fall of the Berlin Wall, a TV station in Japan raised funds to send over cherry blossom trees to Berlin,” says “Berlin Station” actress Tamlyn Tomita. “I was lucky enough to witness the first pink-and-white blossoms in Berlin and to see so many Berliners underneath the beauty of these flowers. It made me proud to view this sight as an American whose father’s parents were from Japan, a former axis country, extending a grand gesture of peace toward another former axis country and showing the world how true progress and partnership can be nurtured and sustained.”
“Leaving Las Vegas” co-stars Nicolas Cage and Elisabeth Shue each won top acting honors at the Chicago Film Critics Awards Monday night at the Park West. But best picture recognition went to Ron Howard’s “Apollo 13.” Shue made no attempts to hide her pleasure at winning and said that growing up with three brothers (including Andrew Shue of “Melrose Place”) made trophy collecting a competition in her household.
Sean Kanan got his first major role playing Ralph Macchio’s cold-blooded nemesis in “Karate Kid Part III.” TV viewers may remember him in guest-starring roles as the greedy, egocentric baseball player on “Who’s the Boss,” or as the jealous, chauvinistic boyfriend on the short-lived “Baby Boom.”
