W Hotel Seattle

One of the main reasons I enjoy staying at the W Seattle is its location. I generally don’t need to rent a car to get where I want to visit.

It’s located close to the Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square and 3rd St. for buses, which is the perfect way to get to the University of Washington and the Woodland Park Zoo.

It’s an easy walk from the hotel to the Westlake Center, where you can catch the Seattle Center Monorail to the Space Needle, Museum of Pop Culture and the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum.

The W hotels are always stylish and this one is no exception. The design is sleek and not fussy. The rooms are nicely sized, clean and well laid out. I usually don’t care for the bath products at most hotels, but the Bliss foaming face wash and shampoo are lovely.

The lobby is modest, to allow more room for the lounge and restaurant features. And speaking of the lounge, wow. The ultra-modern fireplace is a nice touch, but the live music is the winner. Celebrities such as Lady Gaga’s collaborator, DJ White Shadow (music producer Paul Blair), performed there.

The staff was very professional and pleasant, which is always a bonus when you’re a tourist.

Just the Facts:

W Hotel Seattle1112 4th Ave, Seattle, WA 98101 (206-26406000). Complimentary WiFi for its rewards club members.

Suggestions:

Start your day with a complimentary piece of fruit from the bowl in the lobby. For lunch, head to BiBimBap, just down the hill on Marion Street for some inexpensive Korean takeout. Delicious.
