Paris Hilton has been famous all her life, thanks to her lineage (her great-grandfather is Conrad Hilton). These days, the 36-year-old socialite spends most of the year traveling for her business, Paris Hilton Entertainment, which includes her line of clothing, accessories and cosmetics. The latest addition to her line of fragrances is Rosé Rush. “I’m on a plane at least 200 days a year,” says Hilton, who splits her time between homes in Los Angeles and New York. “There really is no place like home. I consider Los Angeles my main home and it’s such a special and amazing place.”

Fans may follow her adventures on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

Q. What is your favorite vacation destination?

A. The Maldives. I just went to DJ at the opening of the new 1 OAK at the Finolhu Baa Atoll and we stayed at the Amilla Fushi Resort at the most beautiful villa on the beach. I can’t wait to go back there! We are friends with the owner, Mark Hehir, and he made the stay so special. The service was incredible and it was like having our own beach house. It’s such a beautiful hotel property. There is so much to do there. I love outdoor activities. I went scuba diving, snorkeling and swimming with turtles. The water is so clear, beautiful and blue. There are also lots of wonderful restaurants and, of course, it’s always fun to dance at the 1 OAK club they have there.

Q. What was the first trip you took as a child? And did you love it, or not so much?

A. The first trip I took was to Maui. My family and I used to go there every single Christmas since I was a baby. I always loved it there. We would stay at the Four Seasons and I would always walk over next door to the Grand Wailea Resort to go on all the water slides. I still love going to Maui. It is such a beautiful island.

Q. Have you traveled to a place that stood out so much that you felt compelled to incorporate it into your work?

A. I’ve been going to Ibiza since I was a teenager. For the past five years, I have been a resident DJ at Amnesia, Ibiza. I am so inspired by the island and incorporate it into my DJ work. I love attending all of my friends’ shows. It is really inspirational for me to be surrounded by all that energy and amazing music.

Q. Where are your favorite weekend getaways?

A. Las Vegas. I always have the best time there and it’s very close. I also love going down to Palm Desert. We have some houses there, so it’s a nice place to relax and attend Coachella. San Francisco. It’s so much fun to go shopping there and to have lunch down by the Wharf. They have the best seafood, especially at this one place, Alioto’s.

Q. Where is the most romantic destination?

A. Positano is one of the most romantic places in the world. My boyfriend and I were there this summer. We stayed at one of the most gorgeous hotels, Villa TreVille, with the most incredible views and the food was amazing. Such a cute little romantic town.

Q. When you’ve gone away for the holidays, which was the best trip?

A. My favorite place is Aspen. I love spending the holidays up in the mountains in the snow. It makes me feel even more in the holiday spirit to be in that type of weather. I love snowboarding every morning and going for hot chocolate at the top of the mountain. I am a huge tomboy, so I love activities like that.

Q. What are your five favorite cities?

A. Los Angeles, New York, London, Paris, Las Vegas.

Q. When you go away, what are some of your must-have items?

A. I always need my iPhones, computer, my music and my dog, Diamond Baby, and my new Rosé Rush fragrance.

Q. What would be your dream trip?

A. To go to any romantic island like, the Maldives or Bora Bora, and go on fun adventures with my boyfriend.

Q. What is your guilty pleasure when you’re on the road?

A. Candy, especially the chocolate in Europe. I love anything that’s sweet.

Q. What kind of research do you do before you go away on a trip?

A. The first thing I do is check the weather and also see what kind of outdoor activities they have, so I can pack the right shoes and clothes for the trip. I always like to be super prepared, so that I can pack everything that I need.

Q. What are your favorite restaurants?
A. In L.A.: Mr Chow’s, Nobu Malibu, Craig’s. In NYC: Indochine, Vandal and Catch.

Q. What are your favorite hotels?
A. Amilla Fushi Resort in the Maldives, the Hotel du Cap in Cap d’Antibes, South of France, the W Hotel in Bali. And I love how they are now renovating and bringing back the Palms Hotel in Las Vegas. Their penthouse suites are epic!

Q. What is your best vacation memory?
A. My best vacation memory was the first trip I took with my boyfriend, Chris, and my family. We went to West Palm Beach for my dad’s friend Steve Schwarzman’s birthday weekend. It was so nice to be together with my entire family and have them get to know Chris and fall in love with him like I am.

  1. I would suggest that if you don’t want to read travel focused interviews then don’t read travel interviews in the travel section.

  2. “There’s nothing wrong with your interview of Paris Hilton. However, it is the most vapid waste of space I have ever seen in my local paper.”

LOL! Your entire comment is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read. You’re complaining to a person who writes about celebrities and their travels that her piece had too much celebrity and travel.

  3. Oh Michele. Condescending much? I bet you complain all the time. And FYI, some of us enjoy reading about celebrities and their vacations and don’t mind that they are wealthy. I don’t know what section this column runs in your newspaper but over in my neck of the woods, it runs in the travel section and is called Celebrity Traveler.

  4. Our regular newspaper features high-end cars and haute couture fashion in their automobile nd style section respectively. I have no problem with it. I think that if you don’t like Paris Hilton, then you should not read about her.

  5. I have to agree that Ibiza is heavenly. I remember family vacations and then later going with my school friends. I would love to go back next year.

  6. Thank you for your input. I’m not sure if you are a first-time reader of my column, but each week, I focus on a well-known person and their travels. The profiles run in the Travel section of the newspapers that subscribe to my work. As such, there will always be more than a “little information” about their travels.

If you would prefer to read about the travels of more serious subjects, I encourage you to search for some of my previous columns. Journalist Bill Weir talked about covering Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. Astronaut Scott Parazynski told me about his dreams of taking his family on a space shuttle. Performer Lauren Marks relayed a story about suffering from an aneurysm while in Scotland. Author Anka Muhlstein recounted her first big trip, which was leaving Europe to escape the Nazis. And documentarian Nelufar Hedayat shared her experience of fleeing the Taliban and war-torn Afghanistan.

  7. I will give Paris credit. She turned her life around and is living the life. Good for her! Fun article and like the pp, I too was surprised that she considers herself a tomboy!

  8. Yes Ms. Kim, how dare you write about a famous, rich person and their travels in a newspaper column that is focused on famous people and their travels. HOW DARE YOU! 😛 j/k
