For years, Christina Aguilera had tried to prevent the release of “Just Be Free,” a collection of recordings Aguilera made when she was 14 and 15 years old. The diva-in-training, now 20, recently settled with Warlock Records on the condition that the album would contain a message that says in part: “I made the recordings as a possible stepping stone to a career in music, which is my ultimate passion. They were made just so that I could get my foot in the door of the music business. I did not intend that the recordings would be widely released, especially after I signed with a major record label.

Will the real Slim Shady please shut up? That’s the request a Christina Aguilera clone raps on “No Reply.” Sung from Aguilera’s perspective, the parody of Eminem’s hit single “Real Slim Shady” is enjoying its 15 minutes of fame, thanks to a singer who sounds young enough to be Aguilera and some funny lyrics that mock the controversial rap star.

B-96 Bash at the Allstate Arena

The great thing for artists playing at these B-96 multibill shows is that the audience will scream for you no matter what. Heck, even the dancers performing at the B-96 Halloween Bash on Wednesday night at the Allstate Arena were getting the star treatment, posing for pictures and signing autographs. Of the eight acts, though, it was Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera–both former cast members of “The New Mickey Mouse Club”–who stood out.
