After six months of marriage, actress Courtney Thorne-Smith has separated from her husband.
Ironically, a beaming Thorne-Smith graces the cover of the current issue of In Style Weddings, wearing her bone-hued bridal gown. In the six-page spread, she writes a first-hand account of everything that was involved in planning her wedding to genetic scientist Andrew Conrad.
"There is something to be said for lack of wedding preparation: It leads to lack of expectations, which in turn can lead to magic," she says in the cover story. "I truly couldn't have done it alone, and I can honestly say that my wedding could not have been more perfect if I had planned it--which, as we now know, I did not."
They were married June 2 during a small Hawaii ceremony and reception.
Of her separation, which she announced in a statement Thursday via her publicist, she said, "Andy and I have made a mutual decision to separate. There are no third parties involved."The couple plan to remain friends, she said.
A former star of "Melrose Place," Thorne-Smith quit "Ally McBeal" last season. A few months ago, she announced that she had tried to keep up--or, more to the point, down--with her rail-thin co-stars (such as Calista Flockhart and Lucy Liu) by dieting and exercising excessively.
