Tonic singer Emerson Hart blew into the Windy City from Nashville to perform Tuesday at the Double Door. Here's what he has to say about summer, love and work:
• Summertime isa
time to rejuvenate. I like to work in my garden when I’m not on tour.
• Marriage isthe
best thing that ever happened to me. I’m a big believer that to be married,
you have to see each other. She comes out to see me every two weeks for
a week when I’m out on tour. When you share your life with somebody, you
have to make an effort to see each other.
• My bandmatesthink
I am insane! I am a little nuts, but that’s good for a writer.
• The most funI
had on a video shoot was when I convinced the band to wear tuxedo shirts
and rollerskate around the set. We got Mick Fleetwood to make an appearance
as well and he wanted to rollerskate with us but his manager wouldn’t let
him.
• I’m clueless whenit
comes to understanding how people can treat each other so poorly in the
music business. I have made two records and been moved without my consent
to seven different record labels that have gotten eaten up by other companies.
